CCA Discord server user guide

Welcome to the Crooked Creek Alert (CCA) community Discord server. We have designed this space to be an easy-to-use resource for all residents. Below is your quick-start guide to getting connected and making your voice heard.

🏗️ 1. Joining the Server

To join our community, you simply need an Invite Link (usually sent via email or shared at community meetings).

  • If you have the link: Click it. If you don't have a Discord account, it will prompt you to create a username and password.
  • Verification: Check your email for a verification message from Discord. You must click the link in that email to fully "register" and start chatting.
  • The "Plus" Method: If you are already in Discord, click the plus (+) icon on the far left sidebar, select "Join a Server," and paste our link.

2. Exploring Our "Rooms" (Channels)

Think of our server like a digital community center with different rooms for different topics. On the left side of your screen, you will see a list of channels preceded by a # symbol.

  • Read-Only Rooms: Channels like #announcements are where we post important updates. You can read these, but you cannot type in them.
  • Chat Rooms: Channels like #general are open for everyone. This is where you can ask questions and share information.
  • How to Join: Simply click on the name of the channel (e.g., #welcome-center) to enter that "room."

✉️ 3. Sending Your First Message

Once you have selected a chat room:

  1. Look at the Bottom: You will see a text box that says "Message #[channel-name]".
  2. Type Your Message: Share your update or question there.
  3. Hit Enter: (Or tap the blue arrow on mobile) to send it.
  4. Tagging (Mentioning): If you want to get someone's attention, type @ followed by their name or role

4. Basic Tips

  • Changing Your Name: Your username can be whatever you want it to be. Right-click your name in the list on the right and select "Edit Server Profile" to change your nickname for our server only.
  • Notifications: If a room is too noisy, right-click the channel name and select "Mute Channel" to stop receiving alerts for every message.
  • Getting Help: If you get lost, head to the #welcome-center or tag a leader. We are here to support you.

Our Mission: We are a supportive community. Please keep all messages respectful.
